~Modest Swimwear~

As we embark upon the summer season, with it often comes the rather dreaded dilemma of locating a decent swimsuit that is still somewhat fashionable and available at an affordable price. In years past we have spent much time looking in stores and on the internet in hopes of finding something that would do. Last year I discovered a swim set at Stage that worked quite nicely and my mom found some nice board shorts for ladies there as well. They didn't have my size, but we were able to order a pair of them online, which were on sale for $14.99. Today I was pleased to discover that Wal*Mart is carrying some of the rashguard type tops for $12! :)

All set and ready for some water play! ;)
I was very satisfied with the combination of garments together and am looking forward to being able to feel decent in what I'm wearing in addition to still being somewhat fashionable and girly! ;)

P.S.
I know the hunt for modest swimwear can be quite the challenge...and at times a bit discouraging, but don't lose heart, there are some better options out there!

~Cato~

While visiting friends in Kentucky we were introduced to Cato. The girls we were staying with all had the most adorable skirts and every time I would ask "where'd you get that?" the answer was always "Cato." Our mothers went shopping and brought back bags of Cato clothes, and on our way home from church all of us girls went on a Cato shopping spree.
The skirts are adorable and modest, and you can't walk into that store without buying at least one thing (at least we couldn't). Sizes range from little girls 7-16 to womens plus sizes, and their sales are incredible! Most of the skirts we bought were marked down to under $10.00, and their accesories are fabulous!

~Bjewel, Harve' Benard~

While shopping for my summer visit to Washington I came across this shirt by Harve' Benard. I fell in love with the delicate lace around the sleeves, the bow in the front, and the feminine little cap sleeves. Upon trying it on I knew it was made for me and had to get it.

On my way to the check out counter I spotted this dress made by "Bjewel" and almost decided not to get it simply because I already had picked out 5 new dresses. I showed it to my mom and she insisted that we add it to the cart. Since then this has been my absolute favorite outfit to wear when I go out. The hem is too long for me, so if I don't wear at least a 2 inch healed sandal it pools around my feet like a melted popsicle and drags along the ground.

While in a hotel elevator with my Mennonite friend Valerie, a woman stepped in and looked at the two of us. I was wearing this outfit and Valerie was wearing her traditional Mennonite dress and prayer cap. The lady across from us smilingly asked "Were you girls in a play?" we politely smiled and replied, "No ma'am, these are our normal clothes." She smiled but looked very confused and bewildered. We had quite a laugh to ourselves after the lady got off on her floor and we both agreed that we had always wondered what people were thinking when they stared so intently. Valerie commented "Now we know!"

Later that day a lady from Sweden, and a lady from Russia stopped me and commented on my dress. They both said that it looked like the traditional dresses they wore as girls in their countries and asked what my nationality was. I said I knew I had some Scandanavian in me and they said I definitely looked it with my eye and hair color, and the dress. After that conversation my sisters and I refer to this as the Scandanavian Princess dress.

Wishing a very happy summer to you all!

~Summer Styling~

Hello all! I hope you're all staying cool this summer! ;)
I recently found this blouse at Walmart for for only $8! I like the fitted style of the blouse with the band around the neckline and gathers, adding a feminine flair!
I made my skirt a few summers ago using the pattern below. :)
The flower ($1.50) and flip-flops ($1) were also found at Walmart.
May the Lord continue to bless you all as we continue to seek to glorify Him, not only in how we dress, but in EVERY area of our lives as well!

Love in Christ,
~Chloe~ :)

New York & Company/ I.N. Studio

New York & Company is one of my new favorite places to shop. While they tend to be quite pricey, they have good sales and a good amount of their shirts can be classified as modest while still being fashionable. This peach shirt is from there and the material is light and cool, but still thick enough around the top and middle to resist being transparent. The only problem is that black shines through (as you can see with the skirt) but as long as you wear white on top you have good coverage.

My skirt is from I.N. Studio and was from my cousin. I haven't seen anything else on their website that would qualify as modest, but as with most clothing companies you can find something wearable every once in a while.

Spring Outfit Mix and Match

Spring arrived with all of it's floral glory quite a few weeks ago, and I'm just now finding the time to make a post on spring outfits. I recently found two shirts that I've been able to mix and match with my casual and church clothes.
This first peach shirt is from a brand name called "Timing" and was found at Gabriel Brothers. My skirt is from Style J and was posted on here last year when I first purchased it.
This second shirt was found at Ross and is from "Cotton Express." While it looks like nothing more than a basic white dress shirt the thing I liked about it most was that it isn't transparent and you don't have to layer on the somewhat bulky undershirts to keep everything covered.

Here is a combination of both outfits. The frills on the front and the scrunched sleeves make it dressy enough to match my church skirts, and the cotton material goes well with my casual clothes.

~Stage and JCPenney~

I was pleased to recently discover some fun sweater blouses at our local Stage store!

I really liked the design and style of these blouses so I decided to get two of them! ;)

They are very comfortable to wear and I like the "sharp look and feel" they give!

My skirt is from JCPenny's. It has a black ribbon around the waist that can be tied in a bow on the side and it is made up of 19 panels...so it is easy to move in (not to mention...it twirls quite nicely! :) )

Blessings to you all!
